Strength Fights Cancer
This was our 7th year for S.F.C and although it is much harder not having Jake here with us we will continue to push to raise money and compete in his honor. For those of you that don’t know, Jake was an athlete who battled a very unforgiving type of Synovial Sarcoma Cancer for 10 years. Among other things an amazing Husband, Father, Friend, and Nurse at Roswell Park Cancer Center. Jake sadly passed away April 17, 2018. In this 10 year battle Jake never gave up and would constantly focus his attention and care towards others including friends, family, and patients. This year we were able to donate a portion of the proceeds from this competition to The Lotus Flower Giving Society which is the foundation that Jake and His wife Lorinna created and named after his daughter, Nalia. The Lotus Flower Giving Society’s mission is to support finding a treatment and cure for the heterogeneous group of cancers known as sarcoma, which typically affects children and young adults. We also aim to support patients fighting this rare and unique disease who live in or are seeking treatment in Western New York.
Each year S.F.C has grown and the support from people like you, who come out to compete, volunteer, and watch, make such a huge difference in helping the foundation and cancer awareness/research grow. Let’s keep fighting and never give up until we find a cure!
Here’s to S.F.C 2024!
